Tammie Buchanan is a Walla Walla native from a fifth-generation farming family. Raised with a strong sense of family and community, she spent her early years working on her family’s wheat and pea farm, experiences that shaped her appreciation for stewardship, hard work, and collaboration. 

After graduating from Walla Walla High School, she attended Central Washington University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She began her professional career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Seattle. During her time there, she obtained her CPA designation and was promoted to Senior Auditor. Costco was one of er audit clients, and upon leaving public accounting, she joined Costco Wholesale, where she spent 14 years in progressively responsible roles that expanded her expertise in finance, auditing, merchandise buying, and large-scale operations.

In 2005, Tammie’s deep roots drew her back to Walla Walla, where she joined Abeja Winery as Controller, serving in that role for 11 years and overseeing multiple related entities, including the winery, vineyards, hospitality operations, and a mobile bottling line. In 2016, drawing on more than 30 years of experience as a General Manager and Financial Controller, she launched her own consulting business, specializing in wine industry compliance, accounting, auditing, and financial planning.

Tammie currently serves as Director of Finance at Walla Walla Foundry, where she works collaboratively with emplyees and artists to support the creation of world-class contemporary art. She is deeply committed to community service and has held numerous volunteer leadership roles supporting local schools and nonprofit organizations. She brings to board service strong fiscal stewardship, operational leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the Walla Walla community.
